Partnership, Outreach, and Research for Accelerated Learning (PORTAL) building

The PORTAL building will provide approximately 24,000 square feet of basic office space to house the relocated Ben Craig Center, an approximately 3,000 square foot Information Technology (IT) laboratory space, a 10,000 square foot certified Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) capable of housing Department of Defense (DoD) top secret level IT requirementsand commercial office tenant space including a retail/food service facility.
The University has also applied for a grant to add a high bay precision metrology lab with heavy environmental controls for use in the University ongoing metrology program. The space will provide additional research space on the existing Charlotte Research Institute.
